    First e-scrap purchase

Thanks to all of the great members on this forum who are willing to share their knowledge I too have caught the e-scrap bug. Today was my first of hopefully many purchases. I know I paid to much, but I feel confident that I at least made a good first impression and will be getting repeat business and still didn't do to badly.

Haven't fully processed everything but this is what I got for $60 + $2.70 in gas.

    12 lbs motherboards
    0.8 lbs ram
15 cpu's (6 with the metal back, 7 without and 2 slot processors)
    2.1 lbs gold finger boards
    6 complete harddrives
    6 CD/DVD drives
    2 floppy drives
    4.5lbs ALU heat sinks
    2 lbs ALU/CU heat sinks
    4 complete power supplys
40lbs destined for the shred pile

Have yet to go through the box of ribbon cable and other wire to snip off the gold connectors, also a small box of fans that my yard will hopefully give me electric motor price on. Will probably break down the drives also unless a little research on ebay tells me to do otherwise. Power supplys will be broken down also.

Wire, steel, heat sinks and fans I will be taking to a local yard. Pretty much everything else I will be stock piling until I have sufficient quantity to make the road trip to one of the buyers on this board across the border.

Good for you, i wish i was smart enough to do e-scrap but it just seems too overwhelming for me to understand, either that or I dont want to.

a small box of fans that my yard will hopefully give me electric motor price on.
Our yard requires us to take the outer plastic off from around the fan blades on the computer fans then takes them along with transformers, motors from drives, and transformers from tv boards; same price for everything.

Yes that's what I was expecting. Sounds like my yard is similar to yours, they have one price for all copper content items (motors, transformers etc.)

great start tackle !! Good luck with it. I took in pictures of heat sinks which showed that they were extruded....they had been paying me cast price for them. I also showed them that round al tubes are also extruded. They have been paying me sheet price for those. I got the pics by googling images of extruded aluminum. I also have the e-waste fever !!

Oh don't you worry, dvdrw drives and larger HDs get set aside right away thanks to the info you have shared!

I currently don't have any means of testing the drives though.... still worthwhile to put up on ebay?

I wouldnt put them on ebay untested but thats just me. The 5.25 drives seem to sell well untested not so sure about the others.
