#1 or #2 copper

99.9% of any copper i have sold is #2 i have some #1 and of course have seen what true #1 looks like . Now i am taking apart Yolks (TV CRT ) and some are very clean, if not #1 wound on plastic not glued on at all. Does any body know if the very clean copper strands i just mentioned can be considered #1 or does #1 also have to be a certain thickness .

yes...it must be the size of the lead in a #2 pencil.

It all depends on the yard. My yard pays bare bright for stuff like that, but yours could be completely different. I know some yards do grade by thickness, but it all depends on the yard

I stand corrected....all yards are diff, but I can't imagine yolk wire being considered #1 or bare bright.

some are copper wound around plastic cones no glue very bright but thin it's a strand but lots of strands

If they are calling it bare bright thats because they arent payin bare bright price

That's what she said,,, My yard pays#1 price for the clean yoke wire as long as it does not have a colored varnish on it. It's all varnished, it's just some you can't tell.

I've been paid #3 or what som call field copper for yoke wire and some have paid me shinny bright price . as always depends on the yard and sometimes ther mood or yours.
