25 tons=50,000 lbs
50,000 lbs x $0.95= $47,500
And this is a side job for you? I want in on it!
I need to clarify my post and didn't mean to mislead anyone on the type of material I handled last year. Of the 25 tons about half was non-ferrous and the other shredder steel. While the business started out as a fill in while watching my 25 year old business go down the tubes, it has become my full time business. I pass out cards like they were candy and get some local calls for shredder and sometimes small amounts of non-ferrous. Mixed loads of non-ferrous usually bring anywhere from 1.85-2.15/# with #1/#2 copper, red and yellow brass being my normal load. I usually stockpile SS and AL and sometimes haul it south when I go to Fla. in order to get a better price. The extra fuel is offset and the trip all but paid for.
