I spent my Saturday like I normally do going to garage sales. I start the day off with some coffee while I peruse Craig's list for garage sales and my normal looking for parts in the computer section.
I jot off an e-mail to a guy offering computer parts. My e-mail states that I want old or burned up stuff and am paying
scrap prices.
I strike out at the garage sales with a big fat goose egg on anything worth reselling. I met one guy that is supposed to call me this week for a garage full of computer parts. I think he may call as he said he downsized and needs the room really bad. We shall see. He says he has a garage full of parts. We know how that goes. Your definition of a garage full may be WAY different than my definition of a garage full.
I get home from the garage sales and there is a reply in my e-mail from the first guy saying that he does have a bunch of stuff that is burned up or out of date. He will call me around noon.
I get the call shortly after noon and head over. I ended up paying him $60 for 15 hard drives (3 worth reselling at about $40 or so), 3 towers, a half a pound of ram, 9 pounds of motherboards, a nice pile of CPUs (picture coming, about a pound and a half, mostly fiber metal tops, but some ceramic AMDs and other mixed goodies) and my first ever server!
The server ended up netting me over 3 pounds of motherboard grade or higher boards, some ram, a couple of slot processors, another hard drive and a 12 pound power supply as well as some killer heatsinks and other various goodies.
We had a nice chat and he said he gets loads on occassion. I told him to keep my number and get ahold of me for anything he can not use. If he gets a large load that he does not want, I will give him a finders fee.
Crossing my fingers, but not holding my breath on the other guy to call tomorrow.
Was a nice day in the life of this scrapper. Got a mess packaged to go to my buyer as well. This will be my second load to him and will report after completion of this transaction.
