My dad caught scrappers loading up my scrap

Today my dad heard some noise outside of his house. It was around lunch hour. He looked out the back window and saw two guys who backed up his driveway and were loading my scrap pile into their truck. He and others in the nighborhood save scrap for me and I pick it up every other week. This scrap was probably 20ft from the ally and behind a fence. They told my dad that they were doing nothing wrong and they were just taking "scrap". They unloaded all the scrap back off the truck into the pile and kept saying they were not doing anthing wrong, but they also had his gas grill in the truck. Good thing they didn't try anything my dad is an angry old marine and most likely had his 1911 on him.

These are the kind of people that are going to end it for us. There will soon be laws that you cannot drive around and pick up scrap.

They are been plenty of scrap crime around here as well. One day, one customer told me that someone was so desperate, they took the metal lid off of her steel drum that she puts something in for disposal.

They knew what they were doing wrong...if nothing else, they were trespassing.

Im guessing they thought nobody was home. He is retired and keeps his truck in the garage. I bet they just go around durring the day when nobody is home. My parents live in a real rough neighborhood and I've been trying to get them to move.

Nothing says "Please stop doing that" like a loaded 1911. Tell you dad Semfer Fi for me, Mike.

We get thieves stealing our stuff every night. My clients tell them "No scrap, we have a guy" and they'll just come by at night.
They are always hitting our two furnace and a/c guys. I ask if they can keep it inside but they don't have the floor space.
The stupid thing is, there's camera's at both spots. However, the property owners don't want to get involved.
Any how Karma is a *****, and the "Scrap Gods" are still good to us. They steal one unit, we get two units some where else.
As a side note, When we first started scrapping in 1995, in Vancouver, all the scrappers had baseball bats and we used them.
Now that we are older and wiser, that is no longer an option for us.

No dm2442, they might end it for us but first someone will end it for them with a sawed off shotgun.

If it were me I would get the clients to sign a contract that says once they put it outside it is yours. Then you would have standing to go to the police and say this is my stuff, the contract says so, and here is the video of these guys stealing it.

We have found that no one will sign contract due to liability. We even have our own workman compensation and liability insurance and people still won't sign contracts.

I parked my truck out front on garbage night once. Fully loaded. It came to 1320 lbs when i went to the yard later that week. anyways, it was about 2am. Im still out in the back and a van drove passed with 4 or 5 bed mattress on it. It came by a couple more times really slow. So I went out front with my bootleg double barrel shot gun. (made it from a weed wacker handle and 2 black alum pipes and duct tape) Waited, they came back again. I stood there. They saw me and floored it. Haven't seen them again. Crack heads ruin it for everyone.

I know that i DD & curb shop which technically is illegal even by me . But once the police get used to seeing you around with Zero complaints they leave you be. i'll pick & a police car will just drive by the other type will get caught in the end .
