I have a steam burner I can dissemble this one is 4 ft wide 5 ft long 4.5 high it is big
does any one know of a formula i can use to figure weight (more or less) like what does a 1ft x1ft cast iron weigh ?
there are also 40 lin foot of pipe to go with it 12in round

the problems
1) encased in asbestos
2) in basement
3) i know it will be hard to get it up to truck after dissembling
4) The owner of build wants me to pay $250 then I can go to work on it .
I figure 3600 lb = $540 with $290 profit
If 4600 lb = $440 profit
Some burners have a copper pipe inside so i am not sure if this has it since encased in asbestos
If this was to be done proper he needs to call a asbestos removal CO. I think the cost of that is in the thousands
he really should be happy just to get some daredevil to go for it under the circumstances.

With all the work and danger involved paying $250 for it seems like an awful lot to me.

Are you certified to remove asbestos if not don't do? Why risk your financial future over a few ton of scrap? It ain't worth it tootle illegal asbesto removal and check out the fines it will make you think twice.

he should be paying you for the removal

I called an experience plumber he feels the weight is not there at best i am looking at a 2500 lb He said let the guy pay $10,000 for proper asbestos removal.

exactly if your not certified to do it then dont do it. Not worth the fines.

Don't touch it with the next man's barge pole. Your health is simply not worth it. I'm not even going to ask how you would have disposed of the asbestos.

Basically, tell the guy it's asbestos, and you're not interested. Then give him the numbers of a couple of asbestos removal firms. If it was for free then I could see why you might be tempted. But you paying him to do that is a really bad deal.

Im with all them. Its better just to leave it. Not only for your health, but also said before how would you get rid of it. the logistics vs risk is bad on this one. just move on. We like u to much.
