Prices

Does any one know a web sight that post prices for scrap LIKE real world - I look at the LME but I would love to find an area that has prices close to what the yards actually pay people like me / give or take a few $ . I'd sure like access to my yards data base / like that can happen .
or even a formula as to how to reach the figures i get paid .

Every yard has their own pricing setup. Some yards pay well for some metals and not for others.

For New Jersey prices here are 3 scrap yards that post some prices. They don't update every day and the only consistent pricing is for copper. I have never used these yards and the one I use in Trenton, NJ doesn't post prices on their website.

Mechanic do you know anyone that has actually used this one? My dad found that online the other day trying to find me better prices, but all the things I read about it were saying you'd NEVER get paid what is posted there. Just curious!!

I use one a few miles closer to me, but I watch Rifkins prices as my yard will either match or beat their prices for the day.

This will give you a percentage of spot price of what that yard is paying. After a few receipts you will start to get a few different percentages that you can average out and give you a pretty good idea of what your yard is paying at any given spot price.

Example; Today spot is $3.86 my yard pays about %76 of spot for #2 copper give or take a little. So I know my yard is paying about $2.93 for #2 copper.

I will create a Excel sheet to encompass all metals Your correct i bet i will see a consistent method I am trying to use another yard also so I'll compare.
off the cuff one yard pays most for short and AL another for copper and lite steel or Tin.

Has anyone tried cutting out the yard and selling to a steel mill or refinery for there junk cars?

I cant seem to find one in Ky

mills don't always have shredding capacity

I went to these guys a few times to get rid of some car batteries and never had a problem until I decided to take a small load of several different things and tried to screw me over in more ways than one. I will never sell to this company again, not a hard decision considering their prices are lower than most. Just a fair warning to all the other Coloradans in the area.
