    t.v.s

Got 5 t.v.s today from work. Just making sure I got all of this. Copper cone from the tube, degaussing cable, misc wires comeing from the board(s) and the braided copper on the spring thingy. I've been reading on here for about a week, and have looked over quite a few posts, just double checking i got it all. Thanks guys (and gals).

Some yards take that black thing with the red wire going in it as a motor..hope yours will. Some take the boards also.

thanks dee, I pulled the transformers and heat sinks off the boards. I'm in an area that hasn't heard of escrap yet, (i'm saving all my boards, and looking into a possible business venture, though I'd have to ship them out) If I'm not mistaken, t.v. boards are consider "low" boards, correct?

throw your tv boards into ur shred/steel pile if your yard allows it you'll get paid more for them then from any e scrap buyer.

the TV FBT (Flyback Transformer) - can at the very least be copper bearing @ .15 to .20 lb
which is good since not much copper & hard to get at . don't burn unless you can deal with excessive plastic smell . The DEP will visit
The cone portion with short steel & copper wound tight , I use a cut off blade (grinder) one long cut then peel like an orange.

I went for a period of time I could not keep up with what i kept seeing it was like house after house was getting rid of TV's it has slowed down But that was a time that I knew would not last forever . I can with a 2 lb black smith hammer (from lowes) and work gloves for grabbing, take apart a tv in 30 seconds .
Of course sooner or later you have to deal with the bounty and separate as per commodity.

I have gotten shocked twice once was a little strong

years ago, on my first t.v., and no experience scrapping, I stuck a knife blade into the rubber cap going into the tube, not fun at all. I've been hit with 110 a few times doing electrical/hvac work, that t.v. hit a whole lot harder. On a side note, any one in the Va. area, theres a hotel in Richmond giving away 106 t.v.s, but if you take one, you have to take them all, sigh, me with no trailer.

as for boards going into my shred, I pretty much do this as a side job/hobby, in doing so, mainly deal only in non-ferrous materials, so I don't have a shred pile. However, I just got a full size pickup, and working on a trailer, once that happens, that will probably change.

106 tv's = the low end of $425 - $ 500 might be more as some places are paying nice for copper. What a mess of left overs to toss.

yeah, I was thinking about it pretty hard, nice chunk of change, but wow the tubes to get rid of. I live in the sticks, plenty of roadside dumpsters in the middle of nowhere, but still, a ton of trash.

if it is worth it to you go and rent a uhaul....get it for 2 days. one day there to load, and one day to break it all down.

I would do it but after calculating costs wouldnt be worth it really.

It's non ferris and not Di-cast so you will get AL price at the very least - BUT - It is called the Electron gun the metal is Different types - include steel, stainless steel, titanium, aluminum & covered with oxides of barium and strontium or combination of Calcium/Barium/Strontium or Cesium Oxides).
