    disappointing couple a days

we went to cut up the crawler loader on wednesday, got a great start had all the assembly to the bucket and t he bucket off in less than an hour. then come the rain we was in a field so we had to quit, my excavator and equipment trailer is still up there id say it will be at least a week before we can go back. thats really the only dissappointment, yesterday we flipped a cadilac catera over and we got super excited, i said this thing has 4 cats on it cut them off the front two were the two in the middle of the car you couldnt see thru it had a curve in the pipe so i stuck a hose thru it and it stopped probably six inches in so i thought maybe they were . anyway done a internet search on the car and those two are called resonators (i believe thats how it was spelled) still got them in the shop gonna check around today and see what i can find out about them no oxygen sensors near them. anyway im always glad to find a cat even happier when i get two, ive heard of 4 just not this time

the larger ones were inbetween the cats and the muffler, if theres any honeycomb in there i cant see it but also when you stick a hose in there is stops, i know one time for sure we scrapped a ford explorer and it had two cats on the same pipe separated by about a foot, anyway heres the pic im sure you guys know alot about these ive onlly been to one yard where i feel like they are being honest on prices with cats and i honestly can look at different ones of them and they really look the same to me i guess it will come with time

I believe they are resonators. They may be chambered, so a hose wont go straight through. If it were to have two cats they should be fairly close together. Ford was known for this, one is a cat and one is a pre-cat (still a cat, just worth less if i remember correctly)

They are resonators. If you have a look at the following link you will see some resonator cut-away pics that are very close to the two you have. You will see why you can't get a hose to pass through the unit.

I know lying is wrong, but if the elephant man came in now in a blouse with some make up on, and said, "How do I look?" Would you say, bearing in mind he's depressed and has respiratory problems, would you say, "Go and take that blusher off you mis-shapened elephant tranny?" No. You'd say, "You look nice... John""

The 2 top ones are graded in my area as either AC 4-dot, or medium GM, depending on the buyer/customer and their relationship, so would be priced from $85 to $102. The bottom larger ones are just resonators, throw em in the tin pile.

I think you would do well to find a core buyer (alt, cats, etc.) that you feel comfortable with pricewise and trustworthy. I'm sure there's still a couple of them left here in this business.

we cut off the loader first, then used our 9000lb winch and our little excavator to push at the same time, we had several hickups but it only took about an hour, of course i had to do some welding on our ramps afterwards, our half was $530
