    Phone call from a friend...

I just got a phone call from a friend who is up there working with the railroad and he asked me if I would like to get some radios....I said sure and he is going try to get them loaded into the back of his truck...I was thinking try??....come to find out..the "radio" stands 6feet tall and about 3feet wide full of radio gear....I bet I am going to pull things out of there that will be resealable.......soo...lets hope he is able to get them loaded up and if I do get them I sure will take photos =P

Its nice having friends who work in companies that get e-waste items...makes my live easy =)

No doubt you are aware that bib old radios also have vaccum tubes. Some of these tubes are valued by the people who like fancy audio equipement and ham radio operators(I am one, ke4ilg). Here's link to a ham site that has members selling items and they do reviews of products.

    Congrats on another deal, Mike.

He is going to be giving a good CB radio free since the one in my truck is out... I am going to go for my ham radio sooner or later and he all ready told me he will set me up with train radio's (powerful hams) next time they change one out and if it works.

Yeah allot of stuff coming off locomotives has resale value from the wheels to the engine to the traction motors and small electrical parts. Even the pistons inside the motor fetch 350 a piece and theres 16 in each one and there a b--ch to get out and you get covered in oil from head to toe. I thought the guys working on it the first day I saw them taking one apart were black turns out they were white they just had to degrease themselves.

    lmao....thats funny.

The radios I will be getting are from a server room that was used to talk with the trains...I just got some more info on the "radios"....its not ham radio as I had thought but a much stronger type of radio...I don't understand much of it but he was talking all about it...it could be worth a good penny...I want to run the model numbers soooo bad lmao

Business band of sorts, used to have a freq. punched into my scanner where I could listen to the trains passing thru. Kinda boring really, and there's a hobby club for that. Yawnnnnn

there is a fan/hobby club for just about everything....I find it fun at looking up the most weird and odd things people like lmao.

but that is not a topic for this forum.

The radios I think would still hold some worth I just have no idea what if anything so...it will be pretty cool to mess with it when I do get it.

If they are in the hf or could be configured to work in the hf/sw bands there are people who might want them whole. There are lots of mostly religious organizations who transmit programing on sw bands. If there are for vhf/uhf then perhaps for some businesses, but no suggestions there.

If you decide to break them down take some good pictures please, Mike.
