eBay buyers can't read

Having sold on evil-bay for years here are my 2 rules 1- don't sell anything that you have any money in, just time ( like car parts) 2- Give refunds promptly and let them keep the part.. it is not worth the headache trying to negotiate partial refunds etc. etc. Keep your feedback high at all cost and suck up the loss's. If you have anything worth anything use want ads or CL so you can control the interaction and not get hurt. Evil-bay is typical corporate culture..a great idea ruined by their greed.

Despite the fact that you state items are non-returnable, ALL items are returnable on eBay. Think they aren't? Try refusing a customer request for a refund. Once they file a complaint eBay will forcibly take the money from your PayPal account and refund them without you ever getting your item back. This is why I quit selling there.

In the end its your business, you can run it however you like. Personally I've made an effort to be as gracious and courteous as possible throughout the transaction. Even if someone else is at fault. Business has been better than ever.

I always thought sales was about the item itself - Its actually more about giving someone what they want. The item is just a part of that.

I once listed on CL several solid fire doors for sale. My mistake was I called them solid wood fire doors. Turns out they were filled with cement.

The buyer showed up and bought four at 25 bucks apiece. He too concluded they were solid wood. When he discovered the tasty creamy filling he called me wanting his money back. He wanted to use them as workbench tops and said because of the filling they were unsuitable for his purpose.

What would you have done?

Buyers are king on ebay now, in this case you have to take the return for full refund and block the buyer, hopefully they dont leave you bad feedback but atleast you dont have to worry about them messing with you in the future, take the hit and move on to the next sale, if you look at a sale as a sale you will get mad about it and try to pass the blame, if you look at it as a business transaction on the other hand its alot more attractive to take a return. Theres 3 reasons i like returns, i get to claim all the fees twice as a cost, i get to claim shipping cost 3 times, and i can claim a couple hours labor for sorting out the mess and re-listing the item. In the end returns make me money because of the additional expenses i get to claim against my income. Say i sell a $10 item, buyer dosent like it and wants to return it. Well i get to claim $5 shipping cost on it 3 times, because thats what it will take for the item to hit the next buyer after i relist it. 2 hours of labor at $20 per hour, for communicating with the buyer, going to my po box/post office twice and re-listing the item. And an additional $10 in supplies and overhead costs generated by the return. So im looking at $50 in expenses for a $10 item being returned that i wouldnt have had if the buyer liked the item and decided to keep it. Like i said i have no problems with returns because at the end of the year i have 30k in income that i have to cover with expenses.

I've to agree, Buyers are more protected now then ever...

I've had an issue, I posted on ebay, BLANK MEMORY BOARDS, Simple right..

Well in my ad, it states must be knowledgeable, no return, as is for scrap gold. and Blank Memory boards.

Customer recv the package.. which I mailed out the same day I recv payment, the post office took there sweet time, Buyer was mad at Me for that, Once buyer recv package, he sends me a note. Umm, this is not what I bought,
I'm like yes it's blank memory boards, he goes, no its not, look at the pictures, it blank memory boards,

He filed a case with Ebay, and what do You know He was told to ship it back to me, Ebay provided a shipping label to him, He requested I shipped the product to him priority, cost me 46 bucks, he paid nuttin to ship it back, was givin a shipping label on the 16th of nov. I get package on the 30th of nov. Hmmm,

Weighed the content, it was 1.7lbs short, I called Ebay, they say, oh we'll give you the diffrence in weight. but no shipping refund,

Started going thru the blank boards, as all of them have an x being they been inspected before shipped out, and came acroos 2lbs of blank memory boards with finger cuts off, I call ebay.. they say file a police report and they will refund Me the now three pounds and 7 ouces.. Plus My shipping, I did faxed the report info to ebay, and what do You know. they closed the case in favor of the buyer,

what did I learn...

I got left with the bag, of lost money and blank memory boards,

I then cancel a transaction for 5500.00 for the other remainder blank memory boards, and told the buyer sorry, I'm not going to go thru with this transaction if You want it, You come here and pick it up.. in cash. He did...

EBAY is EVIL.

I would copy and paste both their emails to you into a new one. Add some first grade text to it with some very simple instructions. Add in the dummies addresses and let them exchange parts. they will feel better knowing that there are other people just as dumb as they are.
