    Glass, glass, glass!

As most of yall know i'm a big tv/monitor recycler. Today i finally got too move out the tons upon tons of glass i have. Unfortunately didnt get it all, but a good chunk. At the end of the day, with the help of a buddy, i moved out just over 9 tons of glass. TONS. All properly recycled, not just "smashed up".

Anyway. I'm looking for a better way to deal with this glass. Tomorrow i'll be reaching out to the State to see if i can find someone CLOSE to me that will take these CRT's and be happy. Other than driving 40 miles round trip.

I've included some pictures, just because it's fun

^^^ 2 of my bins provided by a local scrap yard. Each contain around 100 tubes. About 2000 pounds each, roughly.

^^^ About 200 tubes (roughly) in the front of the picture. Behind the first pile, are another 2 bins provided by a local yard, filed with misc. tin from the breakdown of tv's/monitors. About 1600 pounds there of tin. The little white trailor is also full of tubes, about 80 i believe. And behind that, you can't really see it but theirs about a 20ft x 15ft section of 2-3 high tubes. Around 250 tubes.

^^^ That's 1, of 6 big piles of low grade, not broken down yet. My employee can bust out about 60 tv's of any size, every 8 hours. I'm in charge of the breakdown of lowgrade, and the cones.

What's not shown: My cones, gaylord of unstripped degaussing cable, and my gaylords of lowgrade. I didnt want to put those on here, too many prying eyes that would risk breaking into the shop. I have roughly, 400 un broken down cones, thousands of degaussing cables, and at last count 11 full gaylords of low grade. Low grades getting sold tomorrow, just too clear out space.

Anyway, just wanted to show yall what i was dealing with. I know i've talked on here about having tons of glass, so i decided to put my pics where my mouth was! haha. Hope yall enjoyed.

Hot dang. How many trips does it take to clear out 9 tons?

If you could find a used 40 yard roll off that might be the way to go. Unless you figure out something with the state.

    Good luck.

Btw I might have to work for you!

WOW, I'll even say it backwards, WOW! and I thought my backyard was bad, it don't even make a dent in what you got. I see you finally graduated up from breaking them down to the circuit boards, I'm glad to see that you at least got to move the glass to someone else's yard, let them deal with the hassle of breakdown.

We pulled off 8 runs today! Pretty dang heavy each time. Never used my truck. Ole betsy can't handle that much weight, that often. The rolloff idea sounds great....but what am i gonna move it with? lol.

And that'd be great! I can only afford $5 an hour right now, LOL. Sad thing is i aint kiddin.

Mech, LOL. Yeah, i break the board down, break everything that i possibly can down. Maximize profits.

And we truck the glass to a glass recycler. I like doing it, it's just a PITA getting it there.

Hire someone that can pick up a 40 yard. Allied, Pacific, whoever. Wouldn't think they would charge much more than the time/fuel it takes to do 8 runs or more.

I wouldn't expect payment. Was thinking trading out some scrap or something. I might stop by later in the week and we can shoot the chit then. I'll give you a heads up if I do.

I was just wondering what kind of price it was costing you. When we broke down screens we were having to pay 180/ton for those screens, plus shipping. Are you paying by a per lb basis

I see the silver looking braeded copper wire still on the tubes in the first pitcher. Take it off, put it in #2 copper.

Yeah that plated copper aint worth it. I took that braid off 500 TV's/monitors, then snipped all the little **** metal bits off. Turned it in, less than 5 pounds of copper. Not worth it one bit. Spent hundreds of hours cutting those little tin crimps off. I leave them on now. Simply isnt worth it.

Appreciate the thoughts. Should be a simple surgery. But last time he went in (over a year ago) for the same kind of surgery, his heart stopped twice. So we're hopin' for the best.

I dont want to get too much into how much i pay to dispose of the tubes. Just say a truck/trailer load costs around $20.
