Nice score. Wish I could find a deal like that, lol. The area around here is pretty much covered by junk car buyers, theres a self-service yard that advertises heavily and pays close to what the independant buyers pay, or a little more. Last good deal I got on a vehicle was a 91 S-10 Blazer...needed a water pump and a shorted wire fixed...payed $200, stuck about $30 into it, and sold it for $550...and it still needed work when I sold it. I'm trying to get a beater truck, but it's winter so everyone is hoarding their 4x4s, and all the 2WDS are junk or overpriced, and people won't come down low enough.
The Jags are notorious for bad wiring! Great car but they always have wiring troubles.
That is most likely the problem with the fuel gauge.
If you are good at wiring then this is the car for you!
Nice score though. It most likely has other issues that are not reveling themselves yet to you. Like suggested when it warms up the electrical shorts will make there debut.

injun joe im no mechanic and dont pretend to be but, there is a fuse panel in each floorboard, on in the consol betgween the seats, relays in the trunk i cant remember under the hood but there has to be relays and fuses there to, anyway this thing has more fuses than at least 3 of my 2500 dodge would have, its no wonder they have wiring problems
well them fancy cars have to have all the bells and whistles. That means wires in car talk
True Part time but look at a BMW and there wiring is a class act! They go the extra mile like boots around connections.
Someone should show them what a rubber grommet can do!
My mom used to have an Audi (German) and the electrical system had a mind of it's own.

Does Canada make cars?
Yeah old audi before VW baught them was the german equivilant to YUGO
Each of the Big Three domestics have plants in Canada, as do Honda and Toyota. Previously we also assembled Ladas (russian POS that were made using old Fiat stamping molds), as well the Bricklin, which was something like an early DeLorean. Going back further than that, sorry I have no idea.
I was told a while ago that Jaguar does not use a chassis ground. The way it was explained to me, was it had positive wires and negative wires running through the whole car. If someone knows better, feel free to correct me. Then I'd know too.
But most American cars use the chassis as a ground. Right? Everything I've worked on has used a chassis ground.
