I've dug up a load of antique copper head, intake/exhaust gaskets, used on older autos and trucks. It's a decent shot of pure copper sheet -- but it holds a layer of asbestos within. It's sometimes called a "sandwich gasket" for that reason. Has anyone found a safe way of de-asbestosing these? I'm guessing the metal buyers won't touch them with the asbestos still inside.
