    gr8 week so far

this week so far on monday, we went to our local yard they loaded us up with tanks to cut in half for them, they may be the gaylords you guys talk about on here 4 4x4x4 boxes full to the top of aluminum tanks, insurance wont allow his guys to do it , then we went and bought the auroras you seen on the other thread. tuesday, we went and finished our crawler loader we started over a month ago we got rained out in a couple of hours anyway got it done yesterday got paid, paid the man his half and got my excavator home. then we went and bought a corsica and a grand voyager. we got four cars in the yard right now. i dont know whats gonna happen today or thursday but friday i get another load of fire extinguishers ( still got hundreds of em ) im gonna start today cutting tanks in half and will work on that all day unless i get a call for a car. oh yeah almost forgot , where we bought the van last night the guy sold us 2 truck batteries for 7 apiece and a real old vise still in a snap on truck in his yard we paid 20 for it, i didnt see a namebrand on it so i doubt its snap on but its huge everyone have a great day i gotta goto work

What kind of deal did you work out with your scrapyard to cut up the tanks?

freon, he give em to me just like the extinguisher place did then i get to sell them back, i woulda paid shred for them but he didn ask i just had to sign a waiver., insurance won't let his guys do it. ive been working on them all morning figure ive already got $200 worth ill cash out this afternoon when i get done. he called me to his office and asked me if i would do it since i already know how to of course i said yes. he said propane forklift tanks when he asked if i would do it, but 90% of them are oxygen tanks from hospitals bout 4 inches thick super easy to cut compared to a 9in fire extinguisher so next rainy day im headed to hospitals and medical supply stores

heres a pic of the cars in the yard now

You might have to open a used car lot! It's nice that you have a yard you can work with.

thank you it sure does, its really faster to do everything on the trailer including the cat but the days i work by myself i play around a little bit. i was a small time logger/sawmill operator before scrapping so i was lucky and started out with alot of equipment. hard dangerous work, so is scrapping but is way more enjoyable plus more profitable for me, we have a home improvement store on every corner here, for those of you that know wood i would have to sell black walnut, cherry and the like for $2 a foot to even get a call or basically working for free

Hey cory, I assume yard you take yyour metals to wants those tanks cut in half, the yards down in florida that I work with say just take the valve off the top, only gas tanks need to be cut open. What do you do the powder from the fire extinguishers. I would hate to just dump it on ground everybody around here is on well water.

happy, the majority of mine are CO2 only, when we get ones with powder we try to keep it in buckets for my buddy, but he said it is harmless to the environment, that would make sense since usually they would be used in confined spaces, yes the yard i goto requires them to be cut in half im not about to argue as good as they are to me Kris Kringle, my concrete experience is very limited i filled in IF i had to at the city, i don't care if i ever screet or skreet however its spelled again i would if it came to me eating or not tho , i was a young man then and it was the hardest work i ever did, i didnt mind mixing the mud for the blocks but we only done small amounts for drainage boxes

Cory, thank you for your reply to my post. I had a guy try to give me about 150 extinguishers one time about 4 years ago. They all had the powder in them he said it was a mixure of salt and baking soda, for greese fires. When I pored it out it sent dust flying in the air. I could flush it out with water and could probably bag it up and take it to the dump. Idon't remember any presure in them, is only way to release the presure is to remove the nosle? Sure would hate to have get away from me. Anyway thanks again I think I'll look into this, could be good money in it.

If those cars ran, they would bring big money up here, Southern cars always bring top dollar. Might have to bring a load up to be sold. Those Aurora's would bring around $2000. running.

mechanic, neither one of thems running and im gonnna say the white one wont have a chance since it was bought as a parts car. Kris Kringle talked me into buying a diagnostics machine so im gonna try to hold on to them and try to get the silver one running. happy i always push on the handle to release the pressure just the valves were broke on those two, theres money in them i can guarantee it, if it were not for the extra money in the extinguishers we have been getting all four of the cars above would have already been scrapped i would probably drive 4 or 5 hours for a whole trailer load especially if the nozzles were still in

Keep it coming man! I for one enjoy your daily adventures! Especially when they include pictures of all the cars you get. I don't get to do as much scrapping as I'd like due to my job but I always like coming on here and reading about everyone's scores.
