Dude, take your first load in and let them know its your first load!! Be nice and don't act like a Poser, you will get better service and better answers to your newbie questions. Im only 2 loads ahead of you so I know how you are feeling, found out last load that the yard only takes fridges and freezers with a 25 dollar fee!! Needless to say I was not happy and took a fridge home again. Tossed it elsewhere legally.

So now I know, and 'knowing is half of the battle'. G.I. Joe

    Good luck

even if you only made a dime, it is more than you had and you learned something.little things like that clock all get put in a box that i work on when i am sitting in front of the tv.i use several small buckets in the house and keep dumping them in the bigger buckets untill i get a trailer full and turn it in all at one time. i never bring in more than 2 or maybe 3 types of metal per trip.anything less than a pound dosent even show on the scale, and i have noticed the guys at the yard are a little friendlier with people who have full loads that they only need to weigh once.

i remove and recycle all the non metal i can from everything i turn in and they notice when grading my loads. on the few trips that i dont have any white goods all of my"shread" is clean enough that they usually give me the white goods price anyway. i like getting the extra money $, and i have more time than $.

i got some help by talking to the guys at the scales and letting them know that i was a noob who wasnt trying to pull anything sketchy, but just dont know any better and if they see anything ive done or could have done to please let me know for the next time. this really helps to get to know the rules at the different yards so you can make more$. i also look at what other guys have in their trucks and might ask them a question or 2 while wating at the cashiers window. even people who arent real friendly are usually in a better mood when they are about to get paid.but some poeple are just D.B.s no matter what.

i pick up every little piece of metal i find and throw in one of the five gallon buckets i keep in the car. every few days i dump them into my seperate piles.i have taken in 75lb buckets of screws before.they laugh at the scales sometimes but every little scrap of metal adds weight.

good luck and keep reading.with some hard work you will soon be seeing $$ everywhere.

Or spend 29 mins out of every 30 scrapping and it will only take your GF 1 min to break you apart.
I know lying is wrong, but if the elephant man came in now in a blouse with some make up on, and said, "How do I look?" Would you say, bearing in mind he's depressed and has respiratory problems, would you say, "Go and take that blusher off you mis-shapened elephant tranny?" No. You'd say, "You look nice... John""

Ticking away the moments. That make up a dull day. Fritter and waste the hours.
    In an off-hand way.
