My wife's uncle recently moved back up here from Kentucky. When he used to live here (4 or 5 years ago), he did scrap recycling. So, him and I talked and agreed he could work with me when I need help till he found something else, or just wanted to do something else.
He is not a "partner", but if I ever do partner with someone again, it is definitely him.
So anyways, today we hit up around 30 auto body, HVAC, etc shops for scrap. All a BIG NEGATIVE.
I called a few new RE practices to see what they required of my company to bid on junk removal jobs for them, and do haul away
scrap metal and vehicles. Didn't go as planned as none of the decision makers were in (very odd). So will do this again tomorrow.
Then, I was at my in law's body shop, waiting for my wife to return, and her little brothers and sisters were across the way riding bicycles in a nearby parking lot down the hill. They came up and told me that the top part of a car was by a dumpster and the owner said I could have it. Skeptical, I went to talk to the owner. He is a co owner to the shop and said, what he told them was that stuff inside or by the dumpster was OKAY to take, but he needed to ask his other partner if the top piece of the car was good to take. Told him no problem, and gave him a card.
Then, I proceeded to tell him that we do junk recycling and electronic recycling as well. Then he proceeded to ask me how much I would charge him to haul away doors and windows from a remodel they did, and demolish the shed they are currently in. So, I asked him to take a picture and email or text them to me. So far a green light.
Then, I told him, that if he wanted too, he could make the estimate request via my website, and receive an automatic 15% off the estimate. His eyes went BIG and he LOVED that idea!
Then he said, he wanted it either Friday or Saturday and he would pay whatever, he just wanted it GONE!
These guys were working on LOTS of cars. So, I will await the pictures, and if the doors and windows are good to donate, I will do that, and just charge probably 200 to 400 to demolish the shed depending on the size of it.
Like I said, one he** of an oddball day!
