Went out driving with my wife and kids tonight (they enjoy going picking with me), and I found a couple of small metal items. I went through a small development I usually hit, and saw an old IMAC computer. Stopped to pick it up. I always try to be very friendly to people I see, so when I saw the homeowners I said "Good evening--and asked if they minded me taking the computer". They didn't, and as I loaded it they offered me a working vacuum--which I accepted. I drove to the top of the development (a small loop), and on my way back down here come's the lady I got the computer from waving her arms. We pull over and she tells me her neighbors are putting out a natural gas fireplace that they would help me load into my van if I wanted it. After that, she offered me a working chest freezer from her basement that I'm going to pick up Thursday....she went on to say that we were the 3rd set of scrappers to go through the development this evening. Maybe it just paid off to be nice? Either way, I gave her and her husband my business card, got their phone number, and am heading back for the freezer day after tomorrow!
