Thanks for all the help guys. I found another yard nearby so I might try them, but I might just bring it home and save up more. They seem to give better prices the more you have, so why not just keep saving up? Also, since I am going and staying home for the next year of school, I have to bring back EVERYTHING, which means I might end up craigslisting a lot of small random scrap. I'd rather give it to someone on the forum, so...

If anyone on the forum is in the Duluth, Mn vicinity and would like free ferrous, probably between 20-30 lbs, maybe more by the time I leave, and a bunch of boards and other e-scrap I really have no idea how or time right now to deal with, and maybe some other stuff if I come across it, email me at bellm022@d.umn.edu. I just can't spare putting all that weight in my car for 11 hours back to MO, especially with gas prices right now. So, email me if you want it, but probably pick up more towards late april or early may because I'll have more. Thanks for all the help guys.

If you have the room in your car, why not hit a yard on the way home? Surely there is something long before 11 hours has passed.

That is horrible. I'm sorry that it happened to you. Sadly I've seen it happen several times over the years. All that Guy has to say is it didn't look looked that good of a product to them. My advice would be to save the copper and loocate another yard when your driving home. You wont have to deal with the yard for awhile but when you do and if the scale Guy gives you a hard time just go straight to the office and ask for a manager. Oh. And no matter what do not let your items out of your sight. There are very shady yards out there and seems to be one of them.

Good luck with this, and good for you finding a smart way to get by as a student. I like the idea of dropping off at a different place on the way home, I always wish I had prepared and called ahead to a yard on my way to the big city in our state. I bet they pay more than the smaller places here. As gas prices rise I am less likely to make a special trip that far. Whether you go back to the first place and help them learn to be better people or not, they shouldn't get your business for a while in my opinion. The comment above makes lots of sense too.
