I know lying is wrong, but if the elephant man came in now in a blouse with some make up on, and said, "How do I look?" Would you say, bearing in mind he's depressed and has respiratory problems, would you say, "Go and take that blusher off you mis-shapened elephant tranny?" No. You'd say, "You look nice... John""
Gas is at or over $4/gallon here. However, the Sheetz I go to, is holding steady at $3.95/gallon and with my reward card, I pay $3.92/gallon.
Granted not much of a savings but $0.08 does add up!

When I started driving gas wars between competeing gas stations brought the retail price down to $0.23/gal in cluding the $0.12/gal tax. With that as a reference how bad do you think I feel, old and cheap. Mike.

Now go beat the copper out of something, Miked
Our town is seeing strings of gas station drive offs. Now we are seeing more and more construction and big trucks with their tanks emptied over the night. Time for locking gas caps.
Miked & MIck...everyone else likes to make me feel old....you guys are making me feel young...thanks. I remember local gas wars bring pump price down to 76 cents. Was about 1.05 when I started driving. I could go into the gas station, fill my twin tank Ford, get a carton of Camel's, hand the clerk a $50 bill & still have enough to get a pop or make a phone call.
to put this in perspective. that appliance or computer you are paying $5 for is now costing you at least $9 for me it is $14 I live 30 miles from town. the gas prices are putting me out of business.
I have a new stratigy but I cant reviel it here I have several local lurkers you can pm me.

When I first started driving I worked for a small full service gas station, and we would gas the car, check the oil and wash all the windows for .29 cent a gallon. When they asked we would also check the air pressure in the tires, now how did they make money pumping gas back then?? I guess that was before the gov't started double dipping.

Diesel here is $4.09 i just filled my truck up yesterday. It was $119.
I dont really care about gas prices i am not just wasting gas riding around.I use my truck and fuel to make money and as long as i make money i could careless about it.
But yeah it is stupid thats for sure.
I paid 1.349 per gallon today. Yes I did. Thank you Winn-Dixie!
Winn-Dixie has teamed up with Shell oil and every $50 spent at Winn-Dixie gets you a knickel a gallon off. We don't buy much there, but we go their occassionally because they are close. Besides the 5 cents per $50 spent, every week they have many items that get you an extra knickle or a dime per gallon. We do look at the flyer every week and if there is an item that we use and is a good price, we will grab some and stock up.
This deal is good for up to 20 gallons. I figure your average mom shopping fills up with 10 to 12 gallons usually. My wife's car takes 15 max so usually only takes about 12 when we decide to fill up. No problem, just throw a couple gas cans in the back and make sure you get that maximum 20 gallon reward.
Buyer beware. It is never cost effective to buy all your groceries at a store like this.

With price of gas goes the price of scrap so lets hope it keeps rising I would expect next months price of scrap to rise but thats just a guess. Don't take my word for it. When gas was a buck what was the price of scrap maybe 100 bucks for prepared if you were close to a mill. Now its 4.00 dollars and prepared is 400 a ton figure it out. I could honestly care less what the price of gas is. The more it goes up the more work I seem to have. I can't put my thumb on why that is but it just seems to be the trend.
Price does suck but it's the cost of doing business...if you are taking the mileage deduction and don't have huge truck payment, or hopefully non at all, your still ahead of the game. And like PSP said above, your getting more for your product.

This breakdown is from 2003, I would love to see todays breakdown if anyone knows where to find it. If it still remains the same than 27% of our price of gas is simply a tax.
