    its been sloooow

its slowed way down for us ive been at my girlfriends house everyday before 6 and a few weeks ago i wasnt getting done until after dark, i was thinking the way we were killing it thru the winter spring would be awesome, instead we have had several lazy days, we have only bought two cars since friday and hardly no calls. we got a call to scrap a greyhound bus only to get there and the guy took all the easy stuff, he cut the whole middle out left us with the front and the rear, he was under a deadline because the house was sold so we were the ones to get called got it all done on monday. before i get any grief on not separating it me and the yard found a price between torch and breakage we could live with. we did cut several lbs of brass off of it and a radiator about 4 inches thick. being slow gives me time to clean up the yard i guess and it for sure needs it. just wondering how everyone else is doing or if its just us??

Sorry it's been slow hopefully picks up with warm weather around the corner. Still getting stuff sorted out here. Pretty steady with scrap metal and a couple of shed clean outs. I finally got hooked up with a fire safety company and getting 30 or so extinguishers tomorrow. They said they will call me when they get them in 20 or 30 at a time. Sent you a pm...have a question for you.

bunches of extinguishers to cut up, even found some more aluminum ones, findem all the time, thats the majority of my yard clean up i need to do, i got a few cars and countless alum rims and radiators to breeak down even a few computers, i like breaking stuff down alot but it doesnt compare to answering the phone and rushing out to see what you get i guess what im saying is the stuff in the yard is already money in the bank, i got 10 acres here to fill up

It has slowed way down for me too. Last summer I was doing 6 cars/trucks a week, this winter it went down to 3 a week, which was honestly better then I had thought it would be. Now I'm down to about 1 vehicle a week. Time to start looking into more advertising.

Got a couple of appliances and tv's but no computers now that everybody knows whats in them. I have a feeling this is going to be a lean summer for us.

I am with Skippy, Just started looking at that market!!!

Steel was real slow all winter. When the weather broke, the pickup service has been non stop. The carry ins are up too. I took the week off to spend with my kids on their spring break. I have only moved 12 vehicles since Monday! I have 3 waiting for processing in the lot and then we may go shroom hunting Friday.

Things are picking up this week, I just grabbed a 02' Saturn and a 91' Cavalier today. I have a pickup load of mixed iron tomorrow to pick up and a Grand Marquis tomorrow.

i know it goes in spurts and i guess i griped too early have to agree we got two today, a ford thunderbird, and a buick century. got hooked up with a wrecker service today paying a little more than i should but it will be a steady flow of vehicles getting 4 from him tomorrow plus get to buy 20 alum wheels, as a bonus its only about 10minutes from my house. he said he cant afford to scrap them it seem eveytime he goes to the yard he misses out on a tow. see how it goes but he liked the prices we quoted and i learned an expression from him today and liked it alot. you can shear a sheep forever but you can only skin him once, pretty good advice if you think about it

lol the guy was telling me that while i was getting my price ready, i took the hint, you cant BS a guy that has probably scrapped more cars than you, but at the same time he left me enough room to make a decent profit

and i hope to shear him for a long time

I feel your pain! I took off Wednesday to pick up a huge load of E-Scrap and took off Monday to Pick up another big load (For free) and to finally sell off some stuff! Luckily I have a little vacation time to burn, so I'm sorta Double Dipping!
