    A gift...kinda lol

    Got a call from one of the people I buy from and wanted to get another load out and sent to me (they send me whole server/towers) so I had to move things around to make room for the pallets I knew will be filling my building.

    Well I got 75% done with there pallets when I jumped into the pallets with the server an other mix units so I could get them check out to find out if scrap or not (pulled out some good things from time to time from them), well...I came by something I have never seen before, was or looked to be solid AL with a TON of screws and I saw two ports for antenna with really nice gold plating. The ports where a good half inch or so (will get some photos and show you as soon as I can) so they had me on edge and where on my mind all weekend....well first thing I did today was brake one apart.

    Ok the top cover was silver (after looking close and then check with acid..silver) so now I am like really...I'm having fun getting my tools and setting up. Well...40 screws later and the cover pops off.....solid silver on the inside....even the damm screws where silver!!!! So now I am like wow,....then I saw the board that came out of it...the board (back) is solid gold and the front is loaded with it. The boards them self are heavy but thin so that leads me to think that the gold plating is very thick but I did not check that. What I can say is the gold tested over 14k as the acid just sat ontop like water. So I jump up and take the other 4 apart and I end up with a nice set of boards and a ton of silver...around 14pounds of silver

    Now..the lid is plated but I do not think the parts on the inside are plated. Reason why I think this. This metal (al and silver) is very heavy for the size of AL so I think thats mostly silver weight.

    Silver = 10.49
    Aluminium = 2.70

    So....time to find someone with a gun so I can have it shot and fully tested.

    If I recall you are in the business of buying precious metals in addition to the Escrap. How do you normally determine the purity before laying down the cash?

    This whole thread is why I like to stick to Ferrous material. To many variables with gold and silver. You either make a whole bunch of cash or lose a whole bunch of cash seems like a crap shoot to me.

    It can be but you just have to play smart and use all the tools you have at hand.
