Back in 2003 I think new 30# jugs of R22 were around 40.00 each so reclaiming was not big business. Now that it's 349.00 a can, everyone is out trying to get it.

Wait, so someone who is certified to recover freon makes money off of it?? I've been trying to find someone that will recoup the refrigerant so I can scrap fridges and they all want to charge 30-40 bucks per fridge - not worth the scrap. Am I not understanding something here??
Congrats on the score, btw!!
this place buys freon. 732 995 8318
Thanks and congrats Joe...
When I get a call and - out of nowhere - I hear "how much are you going to charge me?" = I feel I'm in heaven!
Yeah, a buck and a quarter/pound for new gas sounds about right for that time frame(2003). I wish I had done the same as some of my older colleagues. When R12 was on the way out, they bought skids of jugs. Money in the bank a few years later. I'm way too late to the party to do that with R22. Live and learn.
