messed up weekend!

Compressor table is overflowing (50+ compressors), sunshine and 75 degrees out, and I have no new tips for my plasma cutter. Going to see how many I can cut up before my old tip gives out!

Hope it lasts a while to geter done.I gotta ask you though and yes I have read the old threads.What have you found to cut the one copper windings end from the armature?I have cut several ends off with various types of sawzall blades,bandsaw blades and even used a grinder with a cutoff wheel.Do not care for the cutoff wheel cause of the copper dust floating in the air.(breathing it)I know I can use a mask and so on,but was wondering what you have found that works best.

The tip lasted for all 56 compressors! I use a cut-off wheel in my tablesaw and wear both a face shield and dust mask.

Hey, you have room to turn around in your shop. I am seriously lacking in the space department. Need to get some scrap hauled out so I can breath again. Glad the tip held out for you. Have to wonder if my machine is absolute junk, being it would prolly last for 2 or 3 compressors at most.

Idaho, are you sure there isn't something wrong with your torch head?

Good job, how long did it take to do 56 compressors? After seeing all that copper I think I'm going to start cutting my compressors.I've been read the old post on removing the copper from compressors.

Took about 2 hours. You can stop by any time I'm cutting up compressors if you want.

I have to wonder if the torch is at fault. If I brought it over would you be able to tell by looking at it? I contacted the company and they seem wishy washy about doing anything about it, though it is under warranty so I may just tell them they need to send me a new one since this isn't working like I think it's suppose to.

BG, here compressors only bring shred price. Since the compressors have to be removed before recycling the boxes, the only additional time involved would be the actual time cutting them up and separating the copper. So far, I'm into this pile 2 hours, will let you know how long it took to get the copper out. Should be another 2 or 3 hours.

I know that feeling freonjoe. I went to cut up my compressors. Fired the torches up, made a few slices, and oh ****, Im out of o2. And Im sitting here like, gee, I just filled that tank. Only cut up a truck frame, wth lol. I often wonder if the o2 tanks from airgas are bleeding off over time lol.

Ozzy, is your O2 regulator leaking?

Always turn off the tanks when you are done. Also, do you have liquid o2?

Dont think my o2 regulator is leaking. Sprayed it with soapy water once and didnt see nothing. Who knows, it is a horror freight torch set lol. Dont know if its liquid or gas though.

That would be gas. Do you shut off your tanks after you are done?
