how to scrap a D9 cat dozer

the drive gears in the axles are worth a grand at the least in working order i would try to find a used dealer and sell it for parts make alot more money from it but great score man

Grab a torch and get cutting. I've done 3 d8s and 1 d9. Rent a Skidsteer if you need too.

Early 60's D9 had a Pup engine these are worh plenty to the right person, crankshaft from main engine and cylinder head, track rails and sprokets if there;s any meat left on them. Track pads if they're not all busted up..

The rails are what the track pads bolt onto, each link as a pin feel around with yout hand to see if this pin is still round on boh sides, usually you will find that it has a flat spo on the top side which means they've already been turned

If the rear spocket still has a wide surface area across the tooth, you can cut the sproket away from the hub, the next guy that buys it will weld it into place on his machine. You really need to ger some instructions from a shop that does this type of work or it's all going to be scrap.

Final drives will bring in some good money, maybe you even have some good track rollers left on this machine, with out pictures its hard to judge what you have.

my only advice, and take it for what it is worth, i dont like to tie up my time on a big job because it can cost you several smaller jobs. i would try to sell it like teh other guys say but more often than not it probably broke down in some ravine and has been there since. with the right equipment just guessing it would take us over a week and maybe two, if it were me and i was to scrap it i would ask for a two to three month window to get it cut up and do it inbetween other jobs,you dont want to lose customers because of one big score, depending on your prices at scrap your looking at 10000 to 14000 jusst in steel, but probably 3000 in expenses, thats a great profit and ill never turn down a job and would take this if it were here but make sure to leave yourself a window for your other clients

Cut it up 2 loads of prepared plate and one load of prepared heavy melt. You might have to break up some cast into heavy melt. Good luck.

thanks for your input everybody. Well I talked to my yard and they will come pick it up, and pay $315 per ton, and will charge $1000 for freight. Well looks a good one all i gotta do is collect the money sweet
