Your worst screw up?

I goofed. 5 am on my way to work its dark. There it was shining in my headlights, a basketball pole! No backboard, no hoop, nothing to mess with. This a cement into the ground type not your flimsy portable type. It seemed extremley heavy. Attributing this to the possible cement in the bottom pole I secured her down off I went. Well, its actually filled completely solid with cement all but the top 2 feet. I took the grinder to it praying it was only the bottom foot or two. Now what?

Take it back where you got it lol.

Thought about that. First thought when I saw what I gotten myself into.

That's what I call whammied! Sometimes I wonder if someone is playing a prank on me. The jokes usually always on me because I get excited when I get scrap so I tend to not be as observant in heat of the moment.

Biggest screw up recently- grinder to my hand 2 fingers 5 days apart....I learned and will NOT be doing it again. I also learned the second time if it happens right your skin smokes cauterizes and doesn't bleed.

If we didn't screw up we probably would progress as human beings, or as scrappers. Better luck next time!

cut it in 2 ft sections and jackhammer it out of there

Yes, a long cut down at least two sections as you guys suggested. A lot of effort for 100lbs of steel. Ya gotta own what ya take though.

The first week I was out by myself somebody asked what it was they were giving me and I told them brass......needless to say I lost about $80 on that deal.

Lay it on the ground and pound the hell out of it with a big sledgehammer. If your lucky whoever put the concrete in there mixed it poorly and it will break up easily.


Either that or cut it into smaller sections and make a mailbox post out of it!

When I was younger I was cleaning out the garage attic of the house we lived in. Landlords kid was a mechanic, so it was full of junk parts. Well there was a cat converter. Didn't know it was worth money...so I threw it in the shred pile. Kick myself in the ass to this day

Hey, that would be one tall mailbox, GP. That mail jeep would have to have at least 28" rims on it.

Thank you all for your anecdotes. Sorry so many of you fry your potatoes on TVs. Maybe a ground athletic supporter would help?

It would make a great anchor for a swim raft, no issues with pollutants like an engine block.
