just spent the whole day getting metal at Tommy Smothers house

So I get a call to haul away some yard debris I used to advertise for junk hauling, but in the last year have switched to primarily metal. I decided to do the jobs because the guy says he lives on an 80 acre vineyard and figured there will probably be some good metal. Well I was right I get there the place looks like a castle and this familiar looking old man walks out and says hello I'm Tommy Smothers. I was like no way the smothers brothers he said yeah. Anyways he was a very nice guy he paid me more than I asked for the hauling, gave us drinks, cracked jokes it was a lot of fun. I loaded my trailer with some iron, and my dump truck with the brush he wanted hauled away. Next tuesday I'm going back for the big stuff looks like about 7-10 tons of iron, some batteries, and copper anyways it was a good day

I met Tommy and "Richard" backstage at a show many years ago. Gentlemen of the highest order. No star ego trip for them.

That's so cool! I was raised on the Smothers Brothers! Dad probably had every album they recorded and we never missed the TV show.

Tell Tommy I've sung "The Slithery Dee" to every one of my kids.

Tom: You can tell who's running the country by how much clothes people wear, see?
****: Do you mean that some people can afford more clothes on, and some people have... less on? Is that what you mean?
    Tom: That's right.
    ****: I don't understand.
Tom: See, the ordinary people, you'd say that the ordinary people are the less-ons.
****: So who's running the country?
    Tom: The morons.

Had to look up some of the old Smothers Brothers routines on Youtube. I can see that Woody Harrelson modeled some of his schtick after Tommy's act.

momma always did love him more! (his brother's often used line)

they're mostly flattered to have autograph, photo request (at least the[mostly?] down to earth ones) as long as it's practical and not an intrusion. Gotta use your own better judgment on those matters as they occur.
