Even if the tire of your car happened to hit that hole I'm afraid the outcome would certainly suck!

LMAO would be funny. Walk by to see a guy strung out on dope. wrestling with a manhole cover. Throwing it on his sholder. Starts walking and steps in the uncovered manhole. Falling in IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK. An the cover slams back down over the hole.

Why would the scrap yards even pay for such a thing? It is just like railroad property. If your caught with it your in deep crap! Although 35k of these at 9 bucks a pop is a nice chunk of change, if only I were dishonest? It sucks being a "good" person sometimes.

These guys that steal water and sewer covers should be charged with a lot more than theft, what would happen of some 4 or 5 year kid old fell into an unprotected sewer and drowned. But then most drug addicts are beyond having a conscience.

If a child were to die because of manhole cover theft the guilty party should be made to dig that child's grave, prepare the body for burial then attend the funeral before serving a life sentence with out parole. On his prison cell wall a full size mural of the child being laid to rest, something to wake up to each morning.

I agree 100% and I think that goes for the person buying them also.
If the yards would stop buying them off random people we wouldn't have this problem.

As a kid I had a thing for cars, other peoples.

I lived in a very rural area and one day my conscience hit me like a brick. I'm thinking holly crap what if his wife is having a baby while I'm tooling around with his car and they need that car to get to the hospital. It changed my life.

The unscrupulous yards will be the ones buying them, when their names come out in the papers those are the yards to boycott. If they will buy known stolen property then they have no qualms about stealing from you if they get a chance. Think about it,,,

Yeah, Gus, sometimes it has to hit us just like that. Glad you got YOUR enlightenment that way!

Wow I couldn't even imagine doing that. With my luck I'd trip fall face first on it have part of the city's name imprinted on my forehead with big red letters and four busted and scrapped up fingers and get caught.

I'll keep an eye out for them at my yard. About a year ago I drove over an open manhole and f'd my car up pretty good. I have been looking for retribution ever since...
