getting used to dumpster diving? - Page 2

Dumpster diving is an art for me..back in school I scored high on the creativity scale...never knew y...not every1 has this kind of mentality ...but when I thought of going through trash a few years ago I knew why..who gives a f*** what ppl think..go for the gold..that's my thinking

Just back up your truck and hop in, chances are your dirty and look like a bum anyway, besides your not gonna see these people again.

A long time ago when I was just starting out, I entertained the idea of checking out some local dumpsters. I am a few blocks away from a large university and there are several apartment complexes near me. I stuck my head in the opening to check one out and a huge Raccoon made it clear that this was not my dumpster. Just be careful, they are faster than they look.

I love dumpster diving, it is kind of like playing a scratch off ticket, there is a bit of suspense-your not sure whether it will pay off or not. Except that dumpsters pay off many more times than scratch tickets!

I always tell people "Hey, if you were throwing some garbage away and you saw a ten dollar bill in the trash can, would you consider grabbing it?" Most people say yes. I see dumpster diving/curb shopping as a way to be independent and resourceful, traits that you should have pride in.

I am laughing my ass off. I know how you feel but I have made a ton of money scrapping. Forget what people think, they dont pay your bills or provide for your family. It takes a realman or woman to scrap, that means we can turn trash into cash and me and my family is living the high life.

i agree with a lot of folks on here, i just don't care anymore. i work full time and take a load in during my lunch breaks. co-workers sometimes make comments but i don't give a #$^%*. I keep tools and work boots in my truck so after 5 i can scrap. wil be glad when i don't have to work for the Man and can do this full time. i care about the environment and care about feeding my family but don't care about what people say.

@ the scrap yard they buy pride by the lb...

Scrapping keeps me traveling America. Every new town is a challenge and there is usually something to see there. (Except Bogalusa, if you dom't need to be there, don't be there)

People should be ashamed of how much of the earth's resources they waste. When they put a perfectly usable item in the dumpster that they know will end up in the landfill their faces should burn with remorse. Why don't they have the decency to share it with a neighbor, or friend, a thrift store, or a scrapper?

The values of our society are all turned around.

We're the ones putting some of the huge volume of recyclables that get thrown out every day back into the system. We're providing a valuable service. We have every right to be proud of that.

The wasters are the ones who should feel judged.

Dumpster diving is my replacement for bass fishing. Once my wife called me while I was in a dig. She asked "what are you doin?" I said "honey, I'm goin thru the big D and I don't mean Dallas."

Dumpster diving is AWESOME!!! You're getting free money and saving the planet at the same time. People that judge you in a negative light for it can go to hell!
