    FINEALLY getting a truck

I'm stoked. So during the last week of school we had to load up our toolboxes to bring home for summer. Guy in my class only has a Cavalier, so we load his top box in the passanger seat and strap his bottom roller in the trunk. While out in the parking lot one of the second year guys I know from Gen Ed classes is coming out to get his truck to load up his box. He makes a smartass comment about needing a truck, and I said "I don't know about these guys, but I'll have on by the end of summer." He says "Mines for sale. I have too many vehicles. I have it on craigslist for $1500." I tell him "too much. I'll give you what you paid for it ($800)." He says "Make it $850 so I make a little money."

So, I go home and discuss it with the g/f. I'm sick of having to ask people to borrow trucks/trailers, then being on a deadline. Not just for scrapping, but just moving stuff in general...like with my toolbox, my g/f's dad came and picked it up for me. She says she wants to see it, because i'm know for buying junk (ha...ha).

So we go look at it: 1992 Chev 1500, 4x4, single cab long box, little rust around the rear wheel wells, cab corners are gone but theres enough rocker and piller to weld new ones in. Just tripped 200k, but runs like a top and does 80mph without a problem. Plus it has a tow package and trailer brake. Clean interior with a couple minor cosmetic issues, nothing a trip to the yard and $20 can't fix. He tells me he needs it to finish cleaning out a storage shed, then it's mine all mine. A little more than I wanted to spend, plus it's a Chev, but it's in **** good shape and I'll FINALLY be able to clean up on my time frame, not everyone elses.

I know you all probably don't care, but i'm ecstatic, first truck I've had in 3 years, and the first TRUCK i've had, before was always Broncos.

Yea there's nothing better than a truck. I don't see why anyone would own two cars instead of a truck and a car. I own a pu and a full sized work van. Mike.

After a few good loads your truck will have already paid for itself.

Enjoy...Before scrapping, I didn't want nothing at all to do with any type of truck. Now, it is my best friend. For business and pleasure!

So here's your target... Earn $850 during summer break. If you work hard that is achievable, then you can go back to school in a truck you bought and paid for. Now that's a lesson a lot of your classmates won't learn, no matter how much schooling they have.

If you take up the challenge let us know how you get on. Good luck, and great decision.
I know lying is wrong, but if the elephant man came in now in a blouse with some make up on, and said, "How do I look?" Would you say, bearing in mind he's depressed and has respiratory problems, would you say, "Go and take that blusher off you mis-shapened elephant tranny?" No. You'd say, "You look nice... John""

Exactly! And congrats on the new truck, there's nothing like that feeling of owning something you need and finally have the chance to have!

    And I care! it's exciting!!
