Is there a permit required to haul non-ferrous metals in the state, similar to SC? NC Statute 66.11.1 alludes to the fact, but I can't seem to pin it down. Any help would be appreciated. Also going to check with the local sherriff's dept.

Im scrapping in NC Raleigh and surrounding areas, so far nobody has mentioned this, but if you get any information on it, please let me know. Thanks and happy scrappen.
Never heard of this, either.
I am a scrapper in upstate SC. I have never heard of having to have a permit to carry non-ferrous metals. I have been scrapping everything I can lay my hands on for about 3 years now and I have never been asked if I have a permit to do so. Unless you are talking about the permit you get at the police station, however, that permit is just for ID reasons ( to help police track down thieves ).
I could of course be wrong. LOL. It happens all the time, or so it seems.
I read somewhere in a list of crazy/new scrap laws that it is illegal to transport more that 25 lbs of copper without providing proof of ownership.I keep meaning to ask the next police officer I talk to, but havent had the chance yet.
Don't ask Him when the back of the truck has a couple of hundred pounds of Dirty Copper in it . LOL
As it seems like more and more states ( Like Mine ) are now Policing For Profit , Not Safety
Bandit
