That's how it is in Louisiana regarding anything with copper in it. Wire, pipe, transformers, brass, etc. Id, picture, fingerprint, no cash and they hold the check for 5 days. No problem though just bring your copper in every couple of days then every couple of days you will get checks. I don't mind the wait and after awhile you get used to it. The business is changing. Either adapt or be left behind.
