I was unfortunate enough to buy a few computers with slot processors. Once cleaned they look just like large memory chips with a decent amount of gold. Does anyone know why the price on slot processors is so much lower than gold finger memory or even green fiber processors?

Maybe I can spread a little light on this. For one your right they do look like a large memory stick. Since they are larger the gold plating to total weight of them is less then a memory stick. Also they do not have as many IC chips as a memory stick. Therefore the precious metal content of them per pound is not as much as a memory stick. Thats how you get the lower price for them. Hope that helps.

I am not 100% on this but I am pretty sure the IC chips on the RAM are what make the difference. RAM also weighs less.

I'm in them for 3.00 so I'm not going to lose money but they were older systems and I had the hope I'd get something ceramic. No dice.

Ill take a p4 box with a 1gb ram stick dvdrw and a 200gb hard drive over a 486 machine anyday.
