So you need to contact your yard and see if it makes a difference in price. Do they have a prepared price? Or is it all shred? Find out how they want it and then you will get the best prices. As for mixed metals find out if they have a dirty alum price and so on for all the types of metal. Dirty brass, dirty stainless, etc. If they do and its more than the steel price and you don't need to do anything with it sell it dirty!
you can answer that yourself if you look at the pile you throw it in. see whats already in there and you will get a better idea of what they will accept.

I think they have different prices if you have good quantity , but I see iron in the prepared steel pile regularly.
