Dang Mark, all those loaded trailers and no truck to pull them!
Hi Joe,
me again, still trying to get into the sealed unit breakdown game.
Got a 2nd location finally and figured I can do it there, back of some old ass warehouse. No public traffic, nobody to bug me.
Question: What kind of plasma cutter do you suggest?
I am sure I won;t do anywhere near 200 units a month for a while, so what is a good solid starter unit to get it going?
Thanks in advance.
Martin
Time is Money - Crunch the Numbers - It's a Numbers Game!
Interesting stuff. Not sure about FJ's cost breakdown. .03 for labor cost ?
Figure minimum wage here is 12.00$/hr. Maybe another 3.00$ per hour for SSI, Unemployment insurance, and Workman's comp. Thur cost to have somebody on the job would be closer to 15.00 $/hr.
They would have to be processing 500 units per hour or one unit every 8 seconds.
Ummm ... doesn't seem likely.
Is F.J. still in business ?
Freon Joe is a very resourceful individual and he willingly shared his knowledge, if newbee's would take the time to search the archived threads then we old timers wouldn't get tired of the repetitious questions.
Or try to reinvent the wheel.

I dunno .... it's all a numbers game. Business is business. You're not much use to yourself or anybody else if you aren't turning a profit.
Much respect to those who do scrapping full time and can pay the bills every month. It's a hard way to make a living.
Cool. So if a window ac units has 2lbs of copper in a compressor does a fridge/water fountain compressor have 2lbs in it also ?. That's fast dang. I wonder if you have the world record for processing fastest compressor breakdown 😂.
