I had one of my customers come in today with 600lbs of cellphone chargers, both car chargers and wall chargers. Are these both considered ac adapters? I am just trying to figure out a price to pay him.
Thanks.

I recently had about 100 lbs of motorola razor car chargers. There wasn't much in them. Copper in the wires was minimal, although I did get #2 for it somehow. Lots of plastic, and small low grade boards with one ic chip on them. Bits of metal too that didn't add up much. I'd say 75% of the weight was plastic at least (including wire insulation). Wall chargers might have transformers in them though...
The wall chargers can go with ac adapters. Dont forget most of those have gold connecter ends where it plugs into the phone. The car chargers have hardly any copper because they are only reducing from 12 volts to 1 or 2. I have not found anyone that wants the car chargers for more than breakage at 15 cents per pound.
Yeah I had someone give me 25# and got less that 1# of connectors from them. and allot of time going though them.

wall chargers I love I call them eggs since you just crack um and pull all the others I just turn in as dirty wire #4 @.28lb
I bust the casing off the wall ones, pop out the transformer, cut wires, and move on. .90lb for insulated, and I forget transformer price. Its worth it for me as a pile of them takes all of 20 mins to go through'm. An for me it's free money, I tend to get them alot at yard sales for free. Yes I keep any gold ends I find.
Sirscrapalot - Putting squirrels to shame when it comes to storing gold ends.
Not all wall chargers have transformers in them, only the square ones. The small thin ones have a small low grade board. I only take them if I get them for free, even 600# I personly would not buy, not worth it to me.
I will absolutely buy them. Even if I buy it for .05 lb and just throw it in my steel.
I have probably 300-400 lbs of mixed cell phone, laptop, and various chargers.
I would bet a lot of users here might also. If you made a buyers thread and paid enough I bet you could get a pretty large, steady flow of chargers.
I usually clip the wires and sell local around $0.40/lb, and mail the plug parts/one that are just an outlet/usb off to another buyer on here to fill in weigh on my pallet.
So you would need to offer between $0.10/lb and $0.40/lb OR MORE for me or anyone doing any research on here want to send to you, plus cover shipping. My guess is that will not be an economical solution for you, especially if you also have to get them to india.... but maybe? Im not sure your situation, but that is just my guess. Maybe check alibaba? I just did a quick check on there and there are some chargers that are like.... $0.14/unit if you buy in bulk.... I doubt you could beat that.
