I found this old thread interesting as I never realized the contacts on those phone plugs had gold. I just figured they were brass or such.
What got me interested is that I have lots of old modular phone stuff as telephones and their related items has been one of my favorite collectable curios themes. Just thinking on how many pounds of those connectors must be here. I wouldn't scrap anything that was usable & quality.
I still find some of the old modular home wall phone jacks at thrifts and sales and will buy all I find if the values are good. WHY do I seek those out?
SAME reason that I keep a eye pealed for the old formed steel or cast mounts that hold a vintage porcelain or cast iron sink on the wall.
They are needed if you want to mount a vintage wall phone or vintage sink and they are about as rare as hens teeth for original vintage stock.
I have hundreds of the phones and sinks,
so it don't hurt to have a few extra cartridges around to go with your boomsticks...
p.s. That's right. Shop smart. Shop S-Mart. You got that?
