I wired all the bedrooms, kitchen, and living room with phone jacks back 25 years ago. We even had two phone lines coming into the house. It probably seems excessive but it made sense when we had four generations living under one roof. The teenagers were always talking on the phone.
Times sure have changed. I don't really have any need for a cell phone so i never bothered to get one but we're going to be going to fiber VoIP next month. All the traditional copper phone lines in this area are getting near end of life. They aren't rock solid reliable like they used to be. The phone goes out two or three times a year now. They're out for a week or more when they do fail.
I guess i gotta change with the times. It doesn't make sense to pay $ 60.00 / month for unreliable copper when i could get unlimited VoIP that is reliable for $ 15.00 / month.
