It's pretty much the same here in regard to prices going up. Electricity has just about doubled over the last few years. Prices at the grocery store are crazy. A dozen eggs are up over $ 4.00 again. About the only thing that has stayed even are fuel prices.

Ahh well ... there is one upside. You can pay off your debts with inflated dollars in times like this. We should be completely debt free in a few weeks if all goes according to plan.

With the phone thing .... our area has been in the process of converting over to fiber optic for the last few years. I'm thankful that it came in. We had broadband over the copper wires for years. That worked pretty well for our purposes when it started out but it was barely functional toward the end of it. I remember it was a lot like when we were doing the change over from dial up to broadband years ago.

I've just been hesitant to go to VoIP over the fiber network because we have a lot of storms that tear through the place every fall & winter. The utility lines get taken out with downed trees and broken poles. It's easier for them to fix a broken copper line than a fiber optic cable. The funny thing has been that the copper lines have been getting damaged but we haven't had a single service interruption since they installed fiber for our internet. That's not what i would have expected.
