Paint Cans

I tested a theory recently with those pesky paint cans.

The scrap yard won't take full paint cans, but will if they are empty. So I had a problem. I tried a few different things such as finding scrap wood around my property to paint in order to empty the can, or transfering the paint to a plastic container and it would take entirely too much time doing this method.

What I realized is that the scrap yard doesn't mind metal that is painted, but won't take a full can of paint.

I don't understand the logic in this reasoning, but if that's what I have to do, so be it.

Sometimes, all you can do is shake your head and go on.

Wet paint is makes a mess and dry paint does not. Would you want to be under a can of wet paint that separates from the rats nest it's in.

Some things are not worth the effort. Just pass on this one.

just add kitty litter to it. that is how they tell you to do it if you are putting it in the trash. you can use mulch or dirt just something that doesn't allow it to run every ware. I would put old litter in it. kill two birds one stone.. If you pour it into a tube you can peal it off as one big piece when it dries.

great cause i totally agree with this i have helped with two homes as a landscaper/framer and paint is always needed im sure they would take it in a plastic 5 gallon bucket and then you could scrap the can

anytime i come up on paint, i bring it to my boy scotty's house.
same with any screws, 2x4's and decent sized pieces of ply wood.

Here is what I did once, Take your paint maybe when you got about 20 gallons and than find some old carpet or rugs that are trashed or were in fires/water damages. Pour the paint all over the carpet don't pour it all in the same spot, spread it out. Than leave it out in the sun for 1 day, And its dry. Than roll up the carpet and throw it in a dumpster

Why do all that work when you can just leave it in the sun for a few days and just rip the side of the can open and dump the dried paint out.
