Facts Vs Fiction Striping Copper/Alum coils from a/c units

This topic has been brought up quite a few times,But!!!!!,I have stripped manny a/c in my life and still do, from window units to 350 ton chiller units I have sold them clean and dirty depending on the condition of the coil, located in fort lauderdale the sea air and salt rots away the aluminum fins and some times cleaning them would be a negitive for me.Have any members or guests for that matter ever weighed a clean coil before removeing the copper out of the fins and then figured out what they have lost or gained?I dont want to hear your opinion of what you think it was, we need some real weights,I feel you are costing your self, after your labor, blades, and the time need to do this, please PROVE ME WRONG with facts and figs not what your opinion is,Thanks a 56 year old hard headed Scraper.

break down based on my yards current prices

    as is
    4.1 x 1.40 (alu/cu fin) = $5.74

    processed
    2.45 x 2.95 (#1 copper) = $7.23
    1.65 x 0.50 (clean aluminum) = $0.83
    $8.06 total

Increased value $2.32 by separating it.

I'd say of lot of these " is it worth the time" threads could vary depending what else you got going on and how busy you are as well. Comes down to more money vs more effort, and amount of available time and ambition.

Alot of yards are putting stricter rules on fin, so processing it might be the only way to move it.

Not precisely on topic, but close enough.

One of my customers from my day job has these two items sitting in their backyard awaiting bulk trash day. (grrr) I asked them about taking them, and the lady of the house said she's ask her husband to make sure, but most likely I could get them.

Problem is, how to monetize them? I asked at my yard yesterday, and they said I would need a TACLA license to sell those items. Is this going to be a situation of having to aske around to different AC guys to find one that wants to buy it from me? Cuz if that's the case, I'll probably just pass on the deal, and all those goodies will end up in the landfill.

Ahhh, the unintended consequences of kneejerk legislation.
