I just tore apart an old Whirlpool upright freezer. Inside (where the food is stored), there was one section of the back covered with a sheet of Al. I pulled it off, and this was underneath:
It's non magnetic, and white gold colored, so I assume brass. Even the clips and screws in it all are NF. Only took a couple minutes to get out. Definitely something to look for if you're taking one of these freezers in as shred.
