    Treadmill

Just got an older style treadmill has mostly a metal frame, but there are some plastic covers on it and possibly some wood boards inside not sure. Do scrap yards take the whole thing or do i need to pull crap off for it to be considered normal ferrous metal/steel that i can just include in my other ferrous pile? Thanks

Break it down to make more money. Take the motor, wires and any aluminum. My yard takes plastic and other none metals on there schred steel it's some kind of ratio but I never push it. If you break it down you would problely need to remove that board under the running surface so I just trash it. Good luck.

If you go to the same yard you will get a feel for how much non steel they will allow. Just look around at what others have dropped off.
    Good luck

Sometimes playing ignorant is the key. As long as you have mostly metal, yards will take it. I picked up one yesterday, it's heavy as heck and that's after removing motor, boards, wires, and aluminum.

Was def a good find but it was a nightmare to get out. I pulled up and the garage door was open and I was like oh sweet this should be easy. Then the guy is like follow me, made me take off my boots to go inside and walked me up 3 big flights of stairs into an attic hotter than hell. Not to mention the house was so deep in a subdivision my GPS could not even find it. Scrappin ain't easy!

Did ya check to see if it worked? Some of those things sell for way better then scrap value.

    Either way good find!

Pickup is free....REMOVAL like you mentioned is NOT...plus there is liability if you break something in his house...search the forum and there is a giod thread on that...ie keeps you out of trouble and get paid for your time.

Also even it it doesnt work if say the display turns on or other parts work...check ebay to see if replacement parts are being sold for the model...someone alwayd needs something and yiu can sell parts like that for FAR more than scrap value. I sell all the hoses, bin, and brushes for all the higher end vacuumns I get that dont work....instead of $3-5 I can get 3-4x that.

Good point I should not really go into people's places to remove stuff.

This treadmill was an older one and had a heavy metal frame, more metal than anything else which was great. Only a little plastic and some boarding. I also got a good amount of wire from it. It was a piece of junk so not worth trying to sell it. The only thing I could not get off was the motor thingy, bastard was on there good so I said screw it and just left it on for the weight.
