Example that is in my mind is a all aluminum trash can. It will not fit in my car.
If I am able to flatten it (or other things) then I can haul stuff I otherwise could not.
Does flattening aluminum (or any other metal) lower the value of it? or change it quality?

Is it by the lbs no matter what?

Yep bought as long as it is aluminum but I'm like ocd don't flatten but ya gotta do what ya gotta do
Use a log splitter. If you have access one. In the summer I was running a non profit, but my ex partner helped kill the business deal. Long story. But I took the log splitter and he made a plate to sit on the wedge...flat plate. Crushed everything including server cases...so it would work with alumnum no problem.
