This sounds a little too simple to mention but it does work when nothing else does. Occasionally I have a printer that I can't get the top case off for some unknown thing holding it together so what do I do? I take it out to my paved driveway and toss it as high as I can in the air. I can guarantee you something is going to come off it when it hits. Especially by the second and third landing. It does scatter stuff everywhere but it is fun. A little safer too than hitting it with a big hammer which by the way is my second choice of getting printers with stuck cases apart. Use large hammer (and safety glasses and gloves). ...put it in an old pillowcase first, then it won't scatter stuff everywhere. Unless that is actually part of the fun =)
