With a name like Copper Magik, it's got to be good?

Just wanted to share this. It is an old iron that was grouped in with some eWaste I picked up. Funny thing is that whoever owned it cut the cord. LOL

The copper plate is almost 1/4 pound. The plate to the right is aluminum. However, I do not recommend that anyone disassemble one of these. should probably be classified as hazardous due to the asbestos that was sandwiched between the AL and SS bottom plate.

Are you sure it was asbestos? Asbestos would act as a very effective insulator. I think you would want maximum heat transfer to the bottom plate.

It makes sense. You have a copper plate to generate heat quickly and an asbestos plate to keep the beat from rising and warming the metal outsides.

Yep, Logan is right. The copper was directly on top of bottom plate, then the aluminum plate with asbestos creating insulation for the wires and handle and such.
