Some people were curious about what's inside a keyboard or a mouse and is it worth it to break it down. The keyboard has a plastic sheet inside (called mylar) with a small brown board attached to the cord. The cord end is not gold plated. Some people save up the silver plastic sheets and sell them to a reclaimer to reclaim the silver out of them.
The mice have a small low grade board attached to the cord, and that's all that's inside. The rest is plastic and rubber.
Correction, the ball is metal under the rubber cover.
