How do i take transmission off from washer?

First, i have done a few searches, but couldnt find what im looking for. I have the two drums out. I have the agitator shaft un bolted (5 or 6 around shaft, and then two acting as a clamp.) I took out all the gears. So depending on how you look at it (washer standing up in normal position) i need to remove the top half of the tranny.



on a side note, i found less than $1 in change, but possible one diamond earing and one pearl one

If memory serves me, the Maytag washer has a wicked spring coiled up inside a spool. This spring released unexpectedly can injure you seriously.

Perhaps one of our appliance technicians could shed some light on this possible danger.

if i pull on the tranny, it comes out about 3/4 of an inch, but then goes back in. i reallywant to keep the outside drum, and would rather not cut it if i dont have to.

I got it off. just had to hit it with a hammer a few times
