    Cast iron sump pump

Saved a couple of cast iron sump pumps from the dumpster at work today. Solid and heavy little buggers, well rusted too but can just make out on the label they are 1/2hp. Worth trying to rip these guys apart? Or if I decide to leave them whole would I be able to throw them in with my other electric motors?

I had a contractor give me two of them once, and there was noooooooo getting them apart! Yard took them as electric motors.

You have to be careful. Some of them are filled with a light oil like mineral oil. I just took one apart the other day and it dumped about a quart of oil all over my garage. They do have a big copper coil inside. I haven't had the chance to weigh the copper I got out of it but I would take them in as is. Not worth the trouble.
