Has anyone taken the time to break down an outboard?
The kid next door has been out in his driveway all weekend
beating his Johnson. It is like a 75 Hp or so. I am wondering what it will bring in all broken down, he has many hours into it so far. I will be very happy when he finishes all that pounding.
I think he should have parted it out for better money and a lot less work. Some people just don't listen.

he probobly could of sold the whole thing for parts just as much as hes gonna get for scrapping it wouldve saved him a lot of pounding

I loled at that..ohh man.
I doubt he will get much for it. I sold a non running 9.9 Evinrude for $200. He should have given CL a try before wasting a lot of time.

I have scrapped out many outdoards and have found that the eloctronic parts are usually in hi demand.He should at least try to sell the coils stator and brain box on cl.They can bring good money as new ones are very expensive.

Well it was hung out in his driveway, on a rack. I guess the Johnson wore him out because he just loaded it up along with a Mercury that was not broke down at all, and heading to the yard. I stopped him and said to at least stop by the prop shop and try to sell the props.
He could have sold both motors for a lot more money then scrap! On his way to the yard he will have to pass at least five marinas that all repair boats.
Some people you just can't reach!
